What Your Organization Already Does May Help Build HLS.
Building a maritime workforce academy requires thousands of resources beyond curriculum and instructors. Students need tools, supplies, technology, safety equipment, clothing, transportation, and practical support. Classrooms and training environments need furniture, technology, materials, storage, equipment, and infrastructure.
Companies and organizations often already produce, sell, transport, install, manage, or provide many of those resources every day.
HLS Maritime Academy welcomes conversations with businesses, manufacturers, retailers, distributors, service providers, contractors, professional firms, logistics companies, hospitality organizations, community partners, and individuals who may be able to contribute useful goods or services.
Sometimes the most meaningful contribution is simply giving what you already do well.

Food, beverages, snacks, catering, meal support, hospitality supplies, appliances, and related resources may help support students, Academy events, training days, and program activities.

Computers, monitors, tablets, networking equipment, audiovisual systems, printers, communications technology, software resources, and other useful technology may support instruction and Academy operations.

Classroom & Office Resources
Desks, chairs, tables, shelving, storage systems, office furnishings, presentation equipment, printers, supplies, and other resources may help build functional learning and administrative environments.

Building & Facility Materials
Construction materials, fixtures, lighting, flooring, cabinetry, paint, hardware, electrical supplies, plumbing materials, storage products, and related resources may support campus and training-space development.

Personal protective equipment, first-aid supplies, safety signage, protective clothing, eye and hearing protection, emergency supplies, and other appropriate safety resources may support training and operations.

Products & Surplus Inventory
Businesses with useful surplus inventory, discontinued products, excess materials, returned merchandise suitable for charitable use, or other available goods are encouraged to begin a conversation with HLS.

A retailer may have useful products. A manufacturer may have materials or equipment. A logistics company may be able to move donated resources. A professional firm may contribute expertise. A food-service organization may help support students during training.

Share a basic description of the proposed contribution, quantity, condition when applicable, location, timing, and any relevant logistical information.

HLS Reviews the Opportunity
We consider whether the proposed contribution aligns with current student, program, campus, operational, or organizational needs.

Evaluate Practical Requirements
Depending on the contribution, HLS may consider transportation, storage, installation, safety, maintenance, compatibility, handling, expiration, or other stewardship requirements.

Coordinate Acceptance
If the contribution is a responsible fit, HLS will coordinate documentation, timing, delivery, pickup, transportation, or other necessary arrangements.

Put the Contribution to Work
Accepted resources may support students, classrooms, training spaces, technical programs, Academy operations, events, facilities, or other mission-aligned needs.
Responsible Stewardship
Useful Does Not Always Mean Responsible to Accept.
HLS evaluates proposed in-kind contributions individually. We want donated resources to create real value without creating unnecessary costs, storage burdens, safety risks, or long-term obligations that outweigh their benefit.

- Quantity and practical ability to use the contribution
- Safety and regulatory considerations
- Storage, transportation, delivery, and handling requirements
- Installation or infrastructure requirements

- Long-term stewardship responsibility

If you are considering donating machinery, marine systems, technical training equipment, tools, generators, engines, navigation electronics, welding equipment, or other substantial technical assets, our dedicated Equipment Donation pathway may be the best place to begin.
For general products, supplies, services, furnishings, technology, food, logistics support, building materials, professional expertise, or other non-cash contributions, use the In-Kind Giving pathway.

Contributions of goods, services, or other property may have charitable or tax implications depending on the nature of the contribution and the donor's circumstances. HLS Maritime Academy does not provide legal, tax, appraisal, accounting, or financial advice. Donors should consult their own qualified advisors regarding valuation, deductibility, documentation, and reporting requirements.
